Who We Are

Vickery Creek Middle School officially opened its doors in January 1999, initially serving 700 students in its first year. Our school is named after the surrounding community of Vickery Creek, which itself takes its name from Sharlot Vickery, a Cherokee woman who once lived in what is now Roswell, GA.  Sharlot Vickery owned much of the land surrounding the creek, which was originally known as Cedar Creek until it was renamed in her honor in 1834. The creek flows south from Cumming and eventually empties into the Chattahoochee River in Roswell.   After seeking input from students, parents, and the larger community, the Viper was chosen as our school's mascot. Our school colors are teal and black. The school building was a new construction design and has since been replicated numerous times across Forsyth County. To accommodate a growing student population, Vickery Creek Middle School underwent classroom renovations and additions in 2002. During the 2023-24 school, we proudly celebrated our 25th anniversary, marking a quarter-century of service to Forsyth County Schools and our Vickery Creek community.
