Mentor a South Forsyth Middle School Student (1 hour/week)

Calendar Get Connected Icon ongoing

Description

The ask: about one hour a week during the school day, for one semester.

Some of our students need one consistent adult who shows up. Not a tutor, not a counselor — someone who checks in, asks how the week went, and comes back next week anyway.

What mentoring looks like here: you meet with the same student on campus during the school day. Lunch, a study period, or a scheduled block. Conversation, a game, homework help if that's what they need. You never meet a student off campus or outside school hours.

What we provide: training through the Forsyth County Schools Mentoring Program, a school staff member as your point of contact, and a student match based on your availability and interests.

Requirements: mentors complete the FCS Mentoring Program requirements and background clearance before being matched. Start early—it takes a few weeks.

Who this works for: retirees, professionals with flexible midday schedules, and employers whose staff can use volunteer time during business hours. This is the highest-impact hour available in this building.

Warning Requires: FCS Mentor Program | Volunteer Agreement
